Mill Mountain Zoo
Located in the heart of the City of Roanoke, on top of Mill Mountain, with breathtaking views of the Roanoke Valley, Mill Mountain Zoo is easily accessible from I-81/581, downtown Roanoke, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Sharing the mountain top with the famous Roanoke Star and the Mill Mountain Garden Club's Wildflower Garden, MMZoo is an AZA accredited five-acre zoo, exhibiting over 161 mammals, birds and reptiles, representing 61 species, 21 of which are listed as vulnerable to extinction in their wild populations. Animals include: Snow Leopards, Red Pandas, Japanese Macaques, Eurasian Black Vultures, Red Wolves, a walk-through aviary of exotic birds, and much more. Special events and educational programs occur throughout the year, both after-hours and during the zoo day. Group tours, birthday parties and after-hours rentals of the zoo's grounds are available.
