Red, White and Brew Trail

With ten wineries, four breweries, one hard apple cidery, and new distillery, Nelson County offers lots of choices for a memorable tour.

Day One:

Travel along Rt. 151 to Afton Mountain Vineyards featuring great views, a gravity processing system and wine storage cave. Next, try Veritas Vineyard & Winery, open for wine tasting, sales, events and weddings or try Cardinal Point Winery which is also a wine lovers' destination. For lunch, head north on Rt. 151 to Blue Mountain Brewery which boasts a full menu restaurant and live entertainment weekly. Finish your afternoon at Silverback Distillery where you can taste ultra premium vodka, gin, whiskey and bourbon, or perhaps you'd prefer Bold Rock Cidery which features a new modern tasting room with locally-sourced small plates.

Day Two:

Devils Backbone Brewing Company is both an award-winning brewery and restaurant located off Rt. 151 -  Start here for brunch or an early  lunch. Across the road is Wintergreen Winery which offers award winning wines and scenic vistas, or try Flying Fox Vineyard: "Our best wine is the one you enjoy the most." And for something different, Hill Top Berry Farm & Winery produces "true-to-the-fruit" wines and meads. End your day at Wild Wolf Brewing Company where you can enjoy locally-sourced food, hand-crafted beer and live music every weekend.

Day Three:

For your final day, head over to the Route 29 region where you'll find Lovingston Winery, dedicated to producing the highest-quality wines and Mountain Cove Vineyards, Virginia's oldest continuously operating winery. Nearby, Democracy Vineyards features varietals, blends, and a fruit wine. Afterwards, enjoy a beer tasting flight with panoramic views at Blue Mountain Barrel House. Or, head north on Rt. 29 to DelFosse Vineyards and Winery which has an event facility and vineyard views, and enjoy a glass of wine at your patio table.
