Newport News: The Paranormal Tour
Curious about the paranormal? Wonder if ghosts really walk among us? Come to Newport News and experience history with a touch of mystery!
Day 1 Evening. Enjoy a night walk through Newport News Park as a park ranger takes your group on an “Owl Prowl” in search of those things that go bump in the night. Check-in to your Newport News hotel for a good night’s rest and prepare for tomorrow’s adventure.
Day 2 Morning. After breakfast, start the day with a ghost tour of Ferry Plantation. Located in Virginia Beach, Ferry Plantation holds stories of Grace Sherwood, Virginia's only convicted witch, who was tried by water and found guilty of witchcraft. Hear stories and battle cries of sailors past at the USS Monitor Center at The Mariners’ Museum. Visitors will be able to walk on the deck of a full-scale replica of the USS Monitor, step inside the “battle theater” and experience the action during the Battle of Hampton Roads and much more. After lunch, travel to Endview Plantation, where you will see video and listen to actual electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) recordings from investigations conducted by RTL Paranormal, a local paranormal investigation group. The home was used briefly as a Confederate hospital in the spring of 1862 and was then occupied by Union forces until 1864. Step back in time as you enter Lee Hall Mansion, the only large mid-19th-century plantation house remaining on Virginia’s lower Peninsula.
Day 2 Evening Return to your Newport News hotel for rest. You’ll need it, for tonight, the paranormal adventure continues with a Civil War themed evening at The Boxwood Inn, a 1896 Southern mansion. Tonight, you’ll feast on a traditional plantation dinner, followed by an actual paranormal investigation with team members from RTL Paranormal. They will teach your group all about the tools and methods used to capture evidence of ghosts among us.
Day 3 Morning. Enjoy another hearty breakfast before heading home with spooky memories of Newport News.
