Fredericksburg Student Tour - Colonial and Civil War Combination

Tour includes: Hugh Mercer Apothecary Shop where you will see real live leeches on display as the doctor's apprentice describes 18th century medicine and surgical procedures. At the Rising Sun Tavern students will be greeted by a tavern wench who explains she is an indentured servant and then taken through as if they have stepped off a stagecoach in the 18th century learning the origin of such statements as "mind your p's and q's and don't bite off more than you can chew". Chatham Manor served as Union headquarters during the Battle of Fredericksburg. It offers the perspective of the Union soldier who had to cross the Rappahannock River to attack the Confederates at Marye's Heights. An additional hour is needed to also make a stop at the Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center which is located on Sunken Road, a focal point during the battle. The infamous Stone Wall is located on Sunken Road.
