The Bell House Bed and Breakfast

On the National Register of Historic Places and a Virginia Historic Landmark, this romantic and beautiful Victorian was built in 1883 by Colonel J.O.P. Burnside, the son of Civil War General Ambrose Burnside, and next owned by Alexander Graham Bell's father and then the famous son. It overlooks the Potomac River and is the perfect get-away. There are four guest rooms, each with a queen-sized bed and private baths,a library, and a baby grand piano in the Gathering Room for our guest pianists to play or non-players to tinker with. Wine and cheese is served each afternoon on a large wrap-around porch overlooking the river or in the Gathering Room during inclement weather. A full breakfast is served each morning.  Terry robes and comfortable slippers are available for guests.  The Bell House offers lots of Southern hospitality.
