River Farm

Once part of George Washington's land holdings, River Farm is now the headquarters of the American Horticultural Society.

Located between Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon, River Farm is comprised of 25 acres of gardens and grounds. Display gardens include perennial borders, children's gardens, and annual beds. The property also boasts historic boxwoods, a four-acre meadow, a woodland, and views of the Potomac River. Wildlife lovers may sight several species of birds, such as bald eagles, ospreys, turkeys, bluebirds, orioles, and hummingbirds.
