Farmville Confederate Cemetery

The Farmville Confederate Cemetery is located on Jackson Avenue in Farmville, Virginia, just north of the Appomattox River in Cumberland County.

In this cemetery were interred the bodies of Confederate soldiers, who died from wounds and dIseases in the Farmville Confederate General Hospital during and just after the War between the States.

According to his personal recollection, as being present at the Farmville Confederate General Hospital during and after the War, JAS L. White, MD, wrote in 1897, that 350 to 400 bodies remain buried in the cemetery.

A granite monument stands near the summit of the cemetery's hill, which bears the following inscription: "FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH CONFEDERATE HEROES 1861-1865".
