Battle of Dunlop Station
This was the site of an important station on the Richmond and Petersburg Railroad. The station became even more important during the siege of Petersburg as a spoke line ran west from here to Ettrick to avoid Federal shelling. Passengers disembarked here to walk into Petersburg on the nearby road. Dunlop was the scene of chaos during the evacuation of Petersburg April 2, 1865, as stockpiled ammunition was blown up.
