May's Music Night at Spencer- Penn Centre

Music Night at Spencer Penn Centre will have another great line up of  Bluegrass bands. Starting at 5:30 the stage is free for open mic. 6:20: Mac and Jenny Traynham; 7:10 Mary Jo and Charlie; 8:00 Southern Gentlemen.

 

The SOUTHERN GENTLEMEN is a Bluegrass & Bluegrass Gospel Band based in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and the Northern Piedmont of North Carolina. The band was founded in 2001 by John Johnson & Gary Handy. Their music has a drive and energy that keeps the audience amazed. The band has been featured on RFDTV BLUE HIGHWAY'S TV ON RENO'S OLD TIME MUSIC FESTIVAL FILM AT HIGH FALLS , NC IN MARCH 2009.

Mary Jo and Charlie Leet have been performing and recording in the acoustic music industry for well over twenty years, traveling internationally as well as throughout the United States. Playing acoustic guitar and bass, they spent over fifteen years as the “rhythm core” of the Dry Branch Fire Squad bluegrass band and recorded many projects on niche super-label, Rounder Records.

Mary Jo and Charlie have teamed up with super-musicians  Ron Pendleton on mandolin and Tommy Morse on banjo to produce a program of highly-charged instrumentals
