See how the raw fibers of wool and silk are combined using water, soap and agitation to make fabric called felt. The modern felting technique called Nuno Felting creates light and drapey works of textile art. Creations of resident artist Lisa Jacenich are in public and private collections in England, Scotland, Croatia, Italy and Mongolia as well as the United States. The artist creates signature fabrics and designs couture garments and accessories. This 1200 sq. ft. fiber studio is the only one of its kind to show how small scale mechanization can bring the ancient art of felting into the 21st century. Studio demonstrations of wet and needle felting are available most Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (call ahead to make sure we are not at a show or speaking engagement). Items are available for purchase and both the store and studio are co-located with Highland County Crafts, a co-operative featuring over 50 artisans.
