Between the Battles
Little of a soldier's time in the army was actually spent in camp, on garrison duty, or marching from one camp to another. Soliders occupied their time learning to become soldiers in a strange new regimented lifestyle, so different from civilian life. More time was spent fighting disease and monotony than fighting the enemy. This special exhibition uses artifacts, documents, letters and photographs to illustrate the daily life of the Confederate soldier when not in combat.
